The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) together with Famcor Franchise Management and Executive Development Corporation, and in partnership with the Cebu City Government successfully launched the Barangay-Based Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (BBEMP) on August 17, 2021 at 9:30 AM – 11:40 AM via Zoom and FB Live.
BBEMP’s long-term goal is to boost Cebu City’s local economy by supporting, enlightening micro, smalls, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on how to revive, survive, and if needed, to reboot and reformat their businesses in order to recover and build these back in a better position amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Its short-term specific objectives are (a) to provide a platform for existing entrepreneurs to learn from and be inspired by the entrepreneurial journey of the mentors while achieving individual aspirations in life (b) guide the participants in adopting smart business strategies that respond to the challenges of the “new normal” business environment and (c) channel capacity building on an online platform using as benchmark the Kapatid Mentor Micro Enterprise – Money and Market Encounter (KMME-MME) online program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) implemented in partnership with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE)-Go Negosyo.
The program was graced by the Cebu City Acting Mayor, Hon. Michael Rama, Sangguniang Pang-lungsod Chair-Committee in Budget, Hon. Atty. Raymond Alvin N. Garcia, President of Liga ng Barangay, Hon. Franklyn Ong and CCCI Officers led by the President, Mr. Felix Taguiam, Immediate Past President and BBEMP Champion, Mr. Virgilio Espeleta, VP for Business Development and BBEMP Core Team Leader, Mr. Jay Yuvallos, and VP for Cebu Business Mobilization, Mr. Mike Cubos.
120 participants comprised of Cebu City Officials, representatives from 35 barangays, CCCI Trustees, CCCI staff led by Executive Director Ms. May Elizabeth Ybañez, senior officers from DTI 7, DOST 7, DA 7 and SB Corporation, media partners, BBEMP Mentors, and Batch 1 Mentees.
BBEMP Batch 1, Module 1
CCCI, together with Famcor Franchise Management and Executive Development Corporation launches the BBEMP Batch 1 online class, Module 1 on Entrepreneurial Mindset amidst the pandemic realities on August 17, 2021, at 1:00 – 5:00 PM via zoom right after the BBEMP Launching in the morning. CCCI Trustee and Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GT Cosmetics, Ms. Leonora Salvane handled the mentoring session.
Batch 1 is composed of 30 multisectoral enterprise owners (12 males, 18 females) from conducting business in barangays Apas, Bacayan, Banawa, Basak Pardo, Budla-an, Buhisan, Calamba, Capitol Site, Guadalupe, Kalunasan, Kamputhaw, Kasambagan, Luz, Mabini, Malubog, Mambaling, Quiot, Sapangdaku, Sirao, Talamban, Tejero, Tisa and Zapatera. Tisa, Lahug, Kamputhaw The mentees express are very appreciative of the sharing of the mentor on the challenges her company has encountered and how her team worked together to grow the company even during this time of the COVID 19 pandemic. The session has asked each of them their deepest why of creating their respective businesses. They found new friends, listened to each other’s stories, and have formed a new community where they can draw inspiration and support from one another together with the guidance of Mentors CCCI past President and BBEMP Champion Virgilio Espeleta, CCCI Trustee Engr. Leonora Salvane and Famcor and CCCI Team.
