CCCI, DOST 7 CONDUCTS 3-DAY TRAINING ON INDUSTRIAL CALIBRATION

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology Region 7-Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL), successfully conducted a 3-day training on Industrial Calibration at the DOST Regional Office Training Center, Lahug S&T Complex, Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City from October 26 to 28, 2022.

27 participants from 13 companies completed the course: Anilson Packaging Solutions Inc, Central Seafoods Inc/PACPI, Do It Marketing Co. Phils. Inc, Halsangz Plating Cebu Corporation, Helpmate Incorporated, King's Quality Foods Inc, Lucky Tableware Factory Inc, New Carcar Manufacturing Inc, NKC Manufacturing Philippines Corporation, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corp., Shemberg Ingredients and Gums Corporation, Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc., and TUV Rheinland Philippines Inc.

The Instrument calibration training upskills and capacitates the workforce by revisiting practices and applying calibration as a process to minimize any measurement uncertainty and control errors to an acceptable level for their plant operations whether in the food industry or in manufacturing. This provides business owners the confidence that their products are designed to meet or even exceed the minimum requirements of good quality standards. This allows their businesses to stand out above their competitors and advances their potential for profit and consumer loyalty.

Experts Engr. Roberto B. Edra and Engr. Gracildo P. Son were invited as resource speakers. With the combined lecture-discussion and practical/hands-on exercise, the training covered Metrology and Measurement Standards for the variables of Mass, Temperature Pressure and Length as well as the Methods used to Calibrate said Measuring Instruments. The last day was an exclusive Laboratory Tour to DOST 7’s Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory and the Furniture Testing Center.

To constantly address skills gaps and competencies, CCCI is currently accepting registrants to the Basic Sensory Evaluation for Food Testing & Product Development Training on November 28-29 from 8AM-5PM at Golden Prince Hotel & Suites, Cebu City.
