The Basic Sensory Evaluation Training is imperative especially for the food testing and research and development personnel to upgrade their capability and improve their sensory evaluation. Sensory testing is critical for quality control and during the product development phase. Sensory analysis can be used for quality control, determining shelf life, gauging the readiness for product launch, assessing product success, flavor profiling, and identifying the attributes driving consumer preferences.

Experts from Intertek Philippines, Ms. Gelyn B. Javelona-Maninang, Assistant Manager for Food Services and Ms. Chester Lou A. Allones, Manager for QMS and Academy served as resource speakers. Using a combination of lecture-discussion and group exercises, the training covered the topics on Sensory Evaluation, Characteristics of Food, Requirements and Procedures for Sensory Evaluation and the Common Types of Test Methods for Sensory Evaluation.
