Cebu Doctors’ University, Cebu’s leading health- and service-oriented educational institution, proudly unveils the Expedited Curriculum and Enhanced Learning in Medicine (EXCEL-Med), a groundbreaking 7-year accelerated medical education program under the College of Medicine.
Designed for driven and passionate students eager to pursue a career in medicine, EXCEL-Med provides an integrated curriculum that prepares students to become skilled, compassionate, and transformative healthcare professionals; the same goes for parents who seek an accelerated and comprehensive path for their children to achieve their dream of becoming a medical doctor.
This program is in compliance with the CHED Memorandum Order No. 11, Series of 2023, titled "Accelerated Pathway for Medicine (APMed) Program: A Pilot Implementation for Development of Future-Ready Physicians.” CDU takes pride in pioneering the implementation of this progressive initiative in Visayas and
Mindanao.
Conventionally, it would take 9 years after graduation from Senior High School to be eligible to take the Physicians Licensure Examination, but in the EXCEL-Med program, SHS graduates can now finish their medical studies in just 7 years.
This 7-year program is a combination of 2 years of integrated liberal arts pre-medicine courses, 4 years of regular Doctor of Medicine courses, and 1 year of internship. By the end of the 7 years, students will earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) degree in Year 4 and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Year 7.
The program is open to Senior High School graduates with a general average of at least 80%. Applicants must take the CDU entrance examination and meet health and fitness requirements.
