Cebu Pickle Park at Woodlands Opens in Liloan, Bringing a New Pickleball Destination to Cebu

Eight international-standard courts, a 200-seat Championship Court, dining and leisure spaces create a new destination for Cebu’s growing pickleball community

LILOAN, CEBU — September 20, 2026 — Cebu’s growing pickleball community welcomes a new destination with the official opening of Cebu Pickle Park at Woodlands, located within the premises of One Tectona Hotel in Upper Yati, Liloan, Cebu.

Designed to be more than a traditional sports facility, Cebu Pickle Park combines international-standard pickleball courts with open spaces, mature trees, fresh air, dining and leisure amenities — creating a place where players, families, friends and visitors can play, gather and relax.

The facility features eight courts: five international-standard regular courts, two international-standard outdoor courts, and a dedicated Championship Court with stadium-style seating for at least 200 spectators.

The Championship Court was designed with larger competitions in mind, positioning the facility to accommodate recreational play as well as regional, national and, eventually, international pickleball events.

From a Conversation Among Friends

The idea for Cebu Pickle Park began over a regular hotpot gathering among a group of friends who fondly call themselves “The Good Guys.”

During one of their gatherings, Atty. Vincent Roel Tabuñag, a pickleball player himself, shared what he had been seeing firsthand: the sport was growing quickly, the number of players was increasing, and courts were often full.

As the group visited different pickleball facilities, they recognized an opportunity — but they did not want to simply build another set of courts.

“We wanted to create a pickleball destination,” said Butch Guillen, one of the partners behind Cebu Pickle Park at Woodlands. “We wanted people to feel that they are coming to a recreational destination, not simply entering a sports facility.”

That vision eventually led them to the property within the One Tectona Hotel complex. Its mature trees, greenery, open spaces and relaxed surroundings offered the environment they had envisioned.

Cebu Pickle Park at Woodlands was developed by Atty. Vincent Roel Tabuñag, Butch Guillen, Noli Caisip, Gerry Yangyang and Tom Academia.

Designed With Players in Mind

Atty. Tabuñag’s experience as a pickleball player played an important role in shaping the facility. He visited courts in different parts of the Philippines, including Cebu, Dumaguete and Manila, as well as pickleball facilities in Vietnam. Those visits helped the group consider details that directly affect a player’s experience — from court spacing, flooring and lighting to spectator seating, parking and shower facilities.

Interestingly, most of the original partners were not serious pickleball players when the project began.

“We built this large, top-tier pickleball facility, but among the original partners, Vince was really the only pickleball player,” Guillen shared. “The rest of us had barely played.”

Beyond the courts, Cebu Pickle Park offers an air-conditioned restaurant and sports lounge, food and beverage options, shower and restroom facilities, spectator areas and ample parking. Its location within One Tectona Hotel also makes it accessible for visiting players, tournament participants and tourists.

More Than a Place to Play

Cebu Pickle Park was created not only for competitive players but for beginners, recreational players, families, corporate groups, tourists and even visitors who simply want to watch a game or spend time with friends.

Guests can dine, enjoy coffee, watch matches or relax in the park-like surroundings even without stepping onto a court.

The partners envision Cebu Pickle Park eventually hosting regular tournaments, leagues, clinics, training programs and community activities, along with larger competitive events. “Our vision is very simple: We want Cebu Pickle Park to become a destination,” Guillen said. “Not simply another place where people can rent a court, but a place that local players and tourists intentionally visit because they want to experience one of Cebu’s premier pickleball facilities.”

The partners also see the park as an opportunity to strengthen the community around the rapidly growing sport.

“Pickleball has a very strong social aspect. People play together regardless of age, profession or background,” Guillen added. “We want Cebu Pickle Park to help strengthen that community.” For those who have never tried the sport, the invitation is equally simple.

“Come to Cebu Pickle Park, pick up a paddle and give it a try,” Guillen said. “You might be surprised how quickly you fall in love with the game.”

Grand Opening on September 20

Cebu Pickle Park at Woodlands officially opens on Sunday, September 20, 2026, with a grand opening celebration featuring a press conference, ceremonial ribbon cutting and blessing, entertainment, the Cebu Pickle Park story and a ceremonial toast.

The celebration will be held at Cebu Pickle Park at Woodlands, One Tectona Hotel, Upper Yati, Liloan, Cebu.

Regular operating hours are 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM.
