Cebu Youth Unite for Energy Responsibility in “You Have The Power” Caravan in SM Seaside City

The Department of Energy (DOE), in partnership with SM Cares, brought its energy efficiency caravan, “You Have the Power,” to Cebu as part of a nationwide roadshow aimed at inspiring a culture of conservation among Filipinos. The Cebu leg was officially launched at the City Wing Atrium of SM Seaside City Cebu on August 4, 2025, where students, educators, and advocates gathered to take part in the growing movement toward a more energy-responsible future.

Now on its third stop, following earlier activations at SM City Sucat and SM City Butuan, the campaign continues to engage the youth through creative and knowledge-driven activities such as interactive booths and fun games that empower participants to spark change. The Cebu leg of the “You Have the Power” caravan will run until August 8, 2025, before heading to its upcoming stops at SM Tanza in Cavite and SM City Clark.

Participating schools in the Cebu leg of the caravan were Cebu Institute of Technology - University, Sacred Heart School - Ateneo de Cebu, College of Technological Sciences - Cebu, and Naga National High School, with each institution demonstrating a shared commitment to climate action and sustainable living.

This initiative is also a testament to SM Supermalls’ long-standing commitment to sustainability. Currently, 69 of its malls are equipped with electric vehicle charging stations, while 47 utilize solar energy, which are clear indicators of SM’s drive toward reducing its environmental footprint.

The caravan is made possible through the continued support of the Presidential Communications Office, along with key partners Daikin Airconditioning Philippines and Firefly Electric and Lighting Corporation. Their contributions ensure that the message of energy responsibility reaches more communities across the country.

As the campaign moves forward, it carries with it a simple but powerful message: making informed energy choices isn’t just possible — it’s something each of us has the power to do.
