Cebuana Artist Braveree Releases New Song "Thank God You Got Away"

It's exciting to see another Cebuana singer-songwriter on the rise, ready to share her voice—one that empowers listeners and encourages self-worth.  

Jaienne Braveree "Yesha" Suralta, known by her artist name Braveree, recently released her single "Thank God You Got Away." The song offers a more dynamic beat compared to typical pop-rock tracks. TGYGA carries a theatrical touch—thanks to Braveree's background in theater—making it feel almost conversational, as if you're listening to heartfelt advice from a dear friend.  

Braveree’s Storytelling Through Music: The Drama in Every Note

From a young age, Braveree has been exposed to musical theater and Disney. Her parents' influence soon led her to start formal voice lessons at just five years old.

Her passion for singing inspired her to focus primarily on classical techniques, mastering Broadway and show tunes that shaped her distinctive vocal style.

"Because of my theatrical background, my music style focuses more on storytelling. The vibe of my songs is inspired by modern Disney and Barbie shows, as they have greatly influenced my journey as an artist," Braveree shared. 

Turning Pain Into Power: The Message of 'Thank God You Got Away'

The inspiration for "TGYGA" struck Braveree during her work immersion, where she conceived the song's lyrics and melody. She later collaborated with JB Pasana, who oversaw music production, and LG Fuentes, who handled audio mixing and mastering, to bring the song to life.

When asked what inspired her to write "TGYGA," the eighteen year-old Braveree credited her personal experience.

"My song is about letting go and moving on from people who don't see your worth. It is inspired by the experiences of some people I know and also my personal experiences. It aims to empower those who feel like they were not chosen or left behind," she shared. 

Braveree noted that even though the story of the song leans towards romantic relationships, it also applies to other types of relationships such as friendships. Her favorite part of the song? The chorus which carries the most heart, encapsulating the overall message. Braveree also mentioned that, aside from its meaning, the chorus has a very catchy melody that people can dance and vibe with.

Braveree wants her song to uplift her listeners.

"I hope listeners will be inspired to move on from something that was lost than mourn," she said. 

For Braveree, the creative process of crafting a song and performing it is a constant source of inspiration. To fellow aspiring artists, she offers a classic advice: "Don't be afraid to express yourself." 

She said, "It's not about garnering a large following, but about touching the hearts of those who connect with your art. What matters most is being true to yourself, taking pride in your work, and finding happiness in the process. Never stop striving. Create for yourself."

Last February Braveree starred as one of the main casts in Jude Gitamondoc’s latest musical "Hopeless Romantics Inc."  While waiting on her next projects, she is currently working on her next songs. Braveree is open to getting more opportunities perform and share her songs to the world.
