Inaugural Sugbu Football Fest Draws Over 150 Teams

Over 150 football clubs and teams are set to take the pitch for the inaugural Sugbu Football Fest, happening this August 2–3, 2025, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Originally expecting just a hundred entries, the organizers from Sugbu Calidad Football Club are thrilled with the overwhelming response, exceeding the expected number of teams.

"Participants of the football festival can expect a vibrant, fun, and community-focused experience centered around the sport of football. We have an  event host to keep the energy high during the event," said club president John Michael Chik.

The Sugbu Football Fest features 10 categories, including:

-mix 10

-mix 12

-boys 14

-girls 14

-boys 16

-intercompany

-men's open

-ladies open

Winners in each division will receive trophies and medals, with individual awards such as Most Valuable Player, Best Goalkeeper, Best Midfielder, and Best Defender—also up for grabs.

Teams from around Cebu, Negros, and Bohol will be seen in action in the two-day competition.

Beyond the matches, spectators and families can enjoy the festive atmosphere with food trucks, drink kiosks, and football merchandise booths set up around the venue.

Founded in Cebu, Sugbu Calidad FC has quickly built a name in grassroots football through consistent performances in local and national competitions. The club now takes its advocacy further by creating an event aimed at inspiring young players and promoting community engagement through the sport.
