
Lapu-Lapu City Kicks Off Pink October for Breast Cancer Awareness

The City of Lapu-Lapu officially opened its Pink October observance on September 30, led by Mayor Cindi King-Chan, to strengthen efforts on breast cancer awareness, early detection, and community education.

The launch, held at Sky Bar and Lounge, Island Central Mactan, was organized in partnership with the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc. District 386 under the leadership of District Chairperson Sunshine B. Lim and the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu, Inc. (HRRACI). Carrying the theme “Stronger Together With Every Step,” the campaign highlights the power of unity in battling breast cancer.

Mayor Chan, joined by City officials including Councilor Dr. Emilio Galaroza Jr. and Dr. Agnes Cecille Realiza, urged the public to avail of the free breast screenings, consultations, and health seminars offered by the City Health Office and District Hospital throughout October.

✔️ Free consultations and breast check-up drives
✔️ Awareness talks in schools and communities
✔️ Fundraising efforts for patients and survivors
✔️ Solidarity walks and fitness activities promoting healthy lifestyles
✔️ Distribution of educational materials on breast cancer prevention
The campaign is made possible with the support of partners such as the Department of Health Region 7, EVA Air, Crimson Resort, Bluewater Maribago, Plantation Bay Resort & Spa, Island Central Mactan, MEZ 2 Estate, Sto. Niño Mactan Montessori School Inc., and other stakeholders.

In addition to medical services, a lineup of fundraising events, school-based information drives, solidarity walks, and fitness activities will take place during the month.
“By working together, we can raise awareness, empower women, and help save lives,” Mayor Chan said.
