Port of Cebu Breaches Php 4 Billion Collection; Breaks Record Anew

The Bureau of Customs Port of Cebu reaped a total revenue of Php 4.376 Billion for July, exceeding the target for the month by Php 1.067 Billion or 32.26%. This performance sets the Port’s highest collection record anew, topping June’s collection of Php 3.968 Billion, and posting a Php 1.251 Billion or 40% year-on-year growth.

“This is the first time that the Port breached Php 4 Billion in its collection history. This energizes all of us to continue our strategies for maximizing collection, especially through correct valuation and classification, and strict review of importation documents to avert trade misinvoicing,” said District Collector Charlito Martin R. Mendoza.

The Port of Cebu has consistently surpassed its monthly targets since January, posting a total of Php 24.568 Billion in accumulated revenues. The Subports of Mactan and Dumaguete also exceeded their collection target for the month which significantly contributed to the aggregate revenue of the District.

Aside from crediting the consistent performance to the hard work and dedication of Port of Cebu’s officers and personnel, District Collector Mendoza also acknowledged the Port’s stakeholders for their active participation and cooperation in port-initiated education campaigns aimed at keeping importers and brokers abreast of customs procedures and supporting compliance with customs regulations.

With the guidance of Commissioner Yogi Filemon L. Ruiz, the Port of Cebu continues to intensify its revenue collection efforts, as well as strengthen its trade facilitation and border protection measures, to support the national government’s fiscal strategies toward full economic recovery.
