Rep. Duke Frasco throws support into BPO Industry

The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Industry got a major boost after Cebu 5th District Rep. Duke Frasco has thrown his full support to Bangon Philippine Outsourcing (BPO) Partylist in its historic quest to represent call center workers, IT professionals, and online freelancers among others in the hallowed halls of Congress.

Frasco signified his honest intent during a meeting with BPO Partylist first nominee Mike Cubos and some industry leaders at the Cebu IT Park recently.

During the wide-ranging dialogue that lasted for nearly two hours, Frasco and the BPO representatives tackled ways in which Congress and the National Government can help the thriving outsourcing business in the country.

"We really need to support a big industry that contributes so much to our country that is why it is important for the BPO sector to represented in the Congress," said Frasco.

"Considering the size of the BPO industry in the Philippines and the billions of Pesos this industry contributes to our local and national economy, it’s about time the BPO sector is given representation and given a voice in Congress," Frasco later wrote on his official Facebook page.

In a ground-breaking event in the nation's political landscape, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has included the BPO Partylist (#120 in the official ballot) in the Certified List of Candidates among partylist groups for the upcoming May 2022 elections.

It marks for the first time the BPO community finally have a representation since the partylist election was first contested in 1998.
