Senator Imee R. Marcos is flying to the Western Visayas region this Saturday, February 4, to distribute cash aid to farmers in Aklan and to victims of a fire in Iloilo City.
Marcos will supervise the distribution of rice farmers’ financial assistance to 7,000 beneficiaries at the Augusto Legazpi Sports and Cultural Complex in Aklan’s capital, Kalibo.
Each beneficiary will receive Php 5,000 out of a total aid fund of Php 35 million.
The fund was sourced from tariffs collected from the implementation of the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL), also known as Republic Act 11203.
Marcos recommended that farmers nationwide should be given financial assistance until 2024.
The senator will also oversee the distribution of Php 3 million to victims of a fire last January 28 in barangays Habog and San Juan in Iloilo City, with 300 families to receive Php10,000 each.
