What does it mean to truly live well?

The Center for Life Skills explored this question throughout its Quarter 1 celebration on “Promoting Physical, Mental and Social Well-Being,” held from September 14–18, culminating in a lively Wellness Festival on September 19.

The week brought wellness to life through experiences that encouraged students to move, nourish, create, reflect, connect, and celebrate.

The journey began with Mindful Movements, led by the team of Reactivate Orthopaedic Clinic and Kinesiology, headed by founder Dr. John Rey Go and co-founder John Charles Ramirez, PTRP. Students learned the importance of movement and caring for their bodies. The team returned during the Wellness Festival to offer a free clinic and therapy session, while Mega Lifesciences provided free bone scanning.

On Healthful Eating Day, chefs from the Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MICHA) showed students that making healthy food choices can be both enjoyable and creative as they prepared their own nutritious snacks and beverages.

For Mind Matters, students discovered how art can become a powerful means of expression and a pathway to mental well-being, guided by artists recommended by the Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission.

The final two days turned inward, as students explored healthy relationships, personal experiences, and the challenges young people encounter while growing up. Through journaling and reflection, they learned to look at their experiences not only as stories, but also as opportunities to find understanding and solutions.

The week culminated in a Wellness Festival that brought together students, families, and friends. From yoga with Teacher Janice Arado and a talk on Developing Character through Sports by Coach Ricor Marfil of SportsGen, to student-led Learning Booths, the Young Chef Competition, and Family Feud, the day was filled with learning and laughter.

And what better way to end a celebration of social well-being than with students sharing the social dances they had learned throughout the quarter with their families?

It was a week that reminded everyone that wellness is not simply a lesson to be taught—it is something to be practiced, shared, and lived together.
